Toddler Conversation (I love it!)
I am having so much fun watching Abigail & AJ relate to one another and especially lately converse verbally together! I want to share an exchange they had today at lunch, I am still laughing out loud! (A bit of back ground: AJ points to the top of his head and says 'bonk' no matter what the current injury is.)
We were eating an orange and AJ, who typically doesn't chew his food, started to choke. Andy & I stood up and started to pull him out of the highchair but he gagged it back onto his plate. He was a little scared but recovered immediately.
Abigail: AJ are you okay??
AJ: (pointing to the top of his head) Bonk
Abigail: You're choked, act-chew-ly.
AJ: (nod of the head)
Andy & I: falling off our chair laughing. :)

The Importance of Motherhood: Quote of the Day
"How can it be a large career to tell other people's children about the Rule of Three, and a small career to tell one's own children about the universe? How can it be broad to be the same thing to everyone, and narrow to be everything to someone?"

Our Rhymes
Being part of a Waldorf Parent-Tot group means learning many new rhymes and songs for both daily tasks and the changing seasons. Here are a few we have incorporated into our daily routines some with slight modifications to match it to what we know to be true :)
Blessing
(we always pray without a form but often the girls want to hold hands and sing the "blessing" as well)
For the golden corn and the apples on the trees
For the golden butter and the honey from the bees
For fruits and nuts and berries we gather on our way
We Praise our loving Heavenly Father
and Thank Him everyday.
Blessings on our meal and Peace be on the Earth
Hand washing
(said to cue kids that it is time to go wash hands)
Wash hands Wash
and dry them on the towel
it's time to eat our meal so wash hands now
Clean Up
(first part said to cue kids then go into song with children)
I know a little dusty mouse who says it's time to clean our House
I know a little dusty gnome who says it's time to clean our Home
Clean up, Clean up everybody everywhere
Clean up, Clean up everybody do your share
(repeated infinitely!)
Tooth Brushing
(this is a relatively new one we've added that I found in a rhyme book)
Cobwebs, Cobwebs
Upstairs & Down
Brush them away & let's have a look
At the prettiest pearls in town
Getting Dressed
A hat to warm your topknot
And boots to warm your toes
A zipper, a button
A buckle, a snap
All set & ready to go
To me doing rhymes is kind of like beginning poetry :) The girls respond so well to it and I love watching them pick up more and more of the words and rhythm.

Hair cuts
I took Juan and Ruby to get hair cuts today. Ruby has never had one and Juan hasn't had one for a year. Brant tried to take him to Great Clips (or somewhere like it) and Juan would not go through with it. I took them to a kid's salon and it went so well! Ruby had kind of a mohawk mullet going on and Juan's hair was a big curly mullet kind of thing. :) They both look so good. The pictures are before, during, and after.
